Brandon Sterrett
Acting

Brandon Sterrett joins the faculty of Baylor University (Fall 2020) as a Lecturer in Acting. Brandon has taught theatre professionally for over 18 years – in primary-secondary education settings, and for the development of theatre professionals; he has instructed 19 theatre courses for Higher Education establishments. Brandon received his BFA in Acting from Southern Methodist University (2010) and his MFA in Theatre Pedagogy from Virginia Commonwealth University (2016). Brandon has a deep passion for developing students, creating ensemble work, and empowering actors to discover increasing honesty and authenticity in their work.
Some of Brandon’s most notable teaching appointments have been his service as Director of the Acting Company at ZACH Theatre (Austin, TX), Special Education Director at Stage Combat Dallas, Instructor at Arkansas State University (Jonesboro, AR) and teaching appointments at Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA). Within his wide-range of teaching and professional experience, Brandon specializes in focused instruction for Stage Combat, Meisner Technique, and Fitness for the Actor.
As a professional actor, Brandon has worked for AD Players (Houston, TX), Trinity Shakespeare Festival (Fort Worth, TX), Shakespeare Dallas, ZACH Theatre (Austin, TX), Echo Theatre (Dallas, TX), Second Thought Theatre (Dallas, TX), and Cara Mia Theatre (Dallas, TX). Brandon’s favorite roles include Frankenstein’s Monster in the world premiere of Frankenstein: Dawn of a Monster (VCU, 2016), Cassio in Othello (Shakespeare Dallas, 2013), Don John in Much Ado About Nothing (Trinity Shakespeare Festival, 2010), and Duke Frederick in As You like It (Trinity Shakespeare Festival, 2013).
Brandon has served over 45 productions in a directing role. From 2014-2016 he developed Medea Myth, an original ensemble production, and produced it in 3 different states (2016-2017). Brandon has served as Fight Director for Trinity Shakespeare Festival (Fort Worth, TX), Fire House Theatre (Richmond, VA), and Virginia Rep (Richmond, VA). Brandon recently served as Artistic Director for the Fringe Festival at Arkansas State University (2019).
Brandon looks forward to applying his range of experience, knowledge and passion to the high task of helping Baylor Theatre students realize their greatest potential.
