Crew
Although Theatre Arts students may choose to focus with degrees in areas such as performance and design, all Theatre Arts majors graduate with a holistic education in every aspect of theatre production. Training students to be well-rounded storytellers, able to produce plays from the ground up, prepares them for the realities of professional and education theatre, where working artists are seldom merely actors or technicians. The most marketable theatre artist is a jack-of-all-trades.
A key part of this training is the departmental crew system, in which each student rotates through a broad range of technical areas:
- Scenic
- Costume
- Lighting
- Sound
- Properties
- Front of House
All of the productions annually produced by the Baylor Theatre are built – and often designed – by students. A number of work-study leadership positions are available for students who excel in each major technical area.
