Partnership with Film & Digital Media
The Department of Theatre Arts enjoys a close relationship with Department of Film & Digital Media. Faculty and students from each department often collaborate on film and theatre projects, share in sponsoring guest artists with experience in stage and screen, and attend each other’s performance events. There is one faculty member who is assigned to both departments, teaching Acting for the Camera and providing a continual communication bridge between the two.
A highlight each year in the Department of Film & Digital Media is Black Glasses, a Baylor film festival showcasing the best of student film work throughout the year. Theatre students feature prominently in these film projects. The majority of the actors are Theatre Arts majors, but theatre students also provide support in areas such as costume, make-up, sound, and lighting. Some students double major in both theatre and film.
Students interested in working on film projects may submit a headshot and resume to BearReel – on online resource for student and faculty film directors at Baylor.
