Undergraduate Life
Undergraduate students in the department of Theatre Arts are part of a close-knit community, deeply embedded in the rigorous artistic work of Baylor Theatre from the first day of classes until graduation. From the first week, students are assigned to technical production crews and begin preparing auditions for weekly workshop performances. New students are assigned to a Big, an experienced student who introduces them to the department and acts as a mentor.
In addition to the recommended courses of study and upper-level electives, many students also choose to study abroad, and the department offers a specialized summer study abroad program for theatre students every other summer. The Druids - the Baylor University Theatre Student Society plan the major social events for the department and raise money for scholarships. Many theatre students also find meaningful artistic connections beyond the department through the Fine Arts Living Learning Center (sign-up for housing when you apply to Baylor!) and through our extended partnership with Film & Digital Media.
