Sound & Video Design
Everything the audience hears is the responsibility of the sound designer. With that in mind, Baylor Theatre cultivates a student designer's ability to listen critically to each moment, imagine its aural potential, then build a soundscape using the artistry and techniques gained from class and production work. Our project-based coursework and small class sizes allow students to get hands-on experience with industry standard equipment and software they will encounter on their journey as a professional sound designer. Through in-depth training on digital mixing consoles, Pro Tools, and QLab, students learn to build immersive spatial designs for Baylor and beyond.
Baylor Theatre’s season often integrates Projection/Video Design, allowing students the ability to explore state-of-the-art equipment and practices through mainstage design opportunities. This is in addition to their ability to take the upper level “Video Design for Live Performance” course, where they learn projection mapping in QLab, projection gear and terminology, as well as how to leverage features of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite to achieve myriad visual effects.
