Aaliyah Carter
- MA Theatre Studies
Aaliyah Carter is a first-year Master of Theatre Arts candidate at Baylor University, where she also earned her BFA in Theatre Performance in 2025. In addition to her graduate studies, she currently serves as a junior high and high school theatre teacher, where she is passionate about fostering creativity, confidence, and collaboration in young artists.
In addition to her work in the classroom, Aaliyah maintains an active directing practice within both educational and community settings. Each summer, she works with All Things Theatre Company: a nonprofit, faith-based theatre, where she serves in a leadership capacity as both director and program coordinator. In this role, she helps guide the artistic vision of productions while also managing organizational and mentorship responsibilities for young performers.
Her research interests center on race in performance and questions of representation, with a particular focus on how identity is constructed, performed, and received on stage. She is especially interested in the intersections of performance, power, and audience perception.
