Lauren Mikeal Weber

Lauren Mikeal Weber currently serves as Senior Lecturer of Theatre and Coordinator of Musical Theatre at Baylor University. She teaches undergraduate voice courses, applied lessons, and studio for theatre majors, and serves as Music Director, Intimacy Director and Director for Baylor Theatre productions. In addition, she teaches Musical Theatre Workshop and a Music Directing course.

Lauren holds a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre (Musical Theatre) and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She also earned a certificate from the Contemporary Commercial Music Institute at Shenandoah Conservatory and completed her undergraduate studies in Music at the University of Oklahoma.

Her areas of expertise include musical theatre performance and pedagogy, with a particular emphasis on the singing voice, vocal function, and vocal health. Her teaching centers on building sustainable vocal technique across contemporary musical styles, integrating current research in voice science and pedagogy to support healthy, versatile performers. She is also invested in creating rehearsal and classroom environments that are consent-based, collaborative, and artist-centered, and incorporates principles of intimacy direction into her work as an educator, director, and music director.

Lauren is also trained in intimacy direction and is committed to creating consent-based, trauma-informed, and artist-centered rehearsal and classroom spaces. She has completed training with Theatre Intimacy Education (TIE) and Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC), and applies these practices in her work as a director, music director, and educator. Her approach emphasizes clear communication, collaboration, and care, supporting storytelling that is both impactful and ethically grounded.

As a lyricist and composer, Lauren has written multiple children’s musicals that have been produced in Central Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Her performance credits span local and regional theatre, opera, concerts, and solo performances with a variety of bands throughout the region.

Lauren trained in vocology with Dr. Ingo Titze at the National Center for Voice and Speech. Vocology is the science and practice of voice habilitation, encompassing vocal anatomy and physiology, acoustics, biomechanics, perceptual-motor learning, and evidence-based approaches to voice training for both speech and singing.

Deeply committed to arts advocacy and community engagement, Lauren is actively involved in the Central Texas arts community. She is an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she regularly subs in to lead Sunday school classes and sings whenever asked.

Lauren is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Musical Theatre Educators Alliance.
